Asad Akbar

20 comments:

  1. As Asad could not accompany us to the outbound, i first saw Asad in a classroom lecture. I enquired Sagar & Harish (they were my neighbours in class), "ye ganja kaun hai?" (Asad had a shaven head during the start of our course ;). Sagar told me his name & i remember being fascinated ("vow! nice name!"), & i remember "saying" that name 3 times in my head. It sounded cool ;)

Knowing him as a person was a gradual process. He became part of my in-group in the 2nd year, and it has been an uphill journey ever since. Asad portrays a serene & charming personality, and it does not more than a single meeting with this guy to experience that.

  3. I call him CHOMU! well, this name came to my mind un-intenionally, when i, for the first time saw Asad clean-shaven. On looking at him, it seemed as his name is CHOMU. I still don't know what it means, but it surely suits him.

I remember how in the first term he always used to submit the assignments after the deadline had skipped and how he still managed to get the highest marks and then I fell in this trap and decided to submit one assignment with him, after the deadline was over and to my surprise, that was the only time he was penalized for that (ofcourse, i was penalized along with him).

One of the sharpest minds I have ever come across, I see Asad as one of the very few people who have total control on their mind and words and that is what separates him from the flock.

Will always remember u as CHOMU DARLING!!!!

    All the Best!

  4. You are a calm, composed person and I have rarely seen u get excited in tough or tight situations, be it assignment submissions or presentations. I appreciate this quality of yours and would personally like to emulate it.

  5. Asad & i were the last two admissions and thus IWSB has a great close for the season !
I saw his just before the interview and had a cold feet thinking I stand no chance n front of Mr. Van Diseal. Maturity was the first word that came to mind when I saw him. My belief about his maturity only got reinforced in these two years. I found him signing off 90 % of his mail on pg10 with 'shame shame....poppy shame'
Although he remained an enigma even to people close to him, I am quite sure he owns a modest palace in Muradabad. He is the best guy to have tea with as he ill never let you pay. And is the last pick for a group project as he would not start working before the bell tolls 4 am. I believe Asad is one person who will never work for money in life. For him work satisfaction n challenge will come first.
I wish he gets a decent job and a house where there is enough sunshine, and a gym, milk n fruit delivery at his door and a restaurant that serves mutton jhatka.
I will always stay in touch with this man. (as I am looking forward for attending the first Muslim wedding of my life)

  7. Asad - i really wanted to be the first one to post about you..never mind though..:)

Trust me, after the very first conversation i had wid him (i donno whether u remember.u wer reading the newspaper in the KRC and dens wen we got introduced to each other), i knew i had made a friend for life time..since den it has been everything together(chatting, eating kababas, trips to delhi)..I havent seen a better listener who is always mindful of what he says..This guy can go beyond the limits and do everything possible he can for a friend..I am not writing much since i get a feeling we are heading to the same work place..Even if we are not, there is no way distance can separate us apart..:)

No more advice brother..i have told u a zillion times to get much more serious about things in life..it has hardly made a difference to you..but wen it really matters u r der, dats wat is important..and YES, thanks a ton for getting me into a space of some wonderful people(Aditi,Abhilash,Prateek,Vipash,Sagar and a lot more)..

    Keep ROcking Bro!!

  8. Well Asad’s been a great friend of mine. I can never forget the Mumbai trip. The whole experience was so damn funny with you know who. The ties, the shoe rack incident, looking like a bunch of jokers and god knows what. I have a few memories which I would like to share with everyone from the Mumbai trip and probably that would give you an idea about who Asad is.
Memory 1: While going to the railway station, we had about an hour or 45 mins left when Asad felt like having Kebabs at Nizamuddin(Can you believe that?), I somehow persuade him for Shaurmas which we had at NFC in about 20 mins and made it to the station a few mins before the train started moving.
Memory 2: He was asked to wear a yellow tie with red toads on it by one of our friends (you know who) in Mumbai. He just snapped back saying I’m not going to wear that s….
Memory 3: While waiting for an appointment at Essar House he notices me sitting on the couch with my tie touching the floor, he bursts out in a loud laughter and believe me this place is really quiet. He still does that whenever I remind him about the incident.
Memory 4: While on the Mumbai local train, the station was just about to come where we had to get down and this gentleman asks me to sit back and relax and let the train stop before we could get down. No wonder he has Akbar-e-Azam in the middle of his name.
Akbar-e-Azam Memory 5: We had to catch a train from Vasai Road that was going to leave the station in 2 hours time. We were at Kandivli which was like 2 and a half hours from Vasai Road. I ask Asad to pack his bags and move the stuff down as soon as possible. And I’m literally pulling my hair apart with tension when he says baith yaar thodi der main chalte hain.
That pretty much sums up Asad.

  12. Asad Bhai.....my first interaction with u was at the small ground that we had MBGH where we played volleyball...I used to think that u r very serious sorts...after that my interaction with u was very less initially....I remember our first project together....remember child rearing practices....then though my interaction was less with u... aap dil mein ghar kar gaye the.....I finally decided to tie u rakhi...coz I always felt protected n secured with u around..
Recently when I was at home....I received a call from u inquiring about me..I can't explain in words Asad Bhai how happy that day I was......
You obviously have all those qualities that other people have mentioned above but one thing that I can say is, perhaps no one else here would be able to say that, YOU ARE THE BEST BROTHER one can have
THANK U ASAD BHAI for being MY BROTHER....
I hope our relationship continues till the end of life....

  15. Well Asad if you can recall, I saw you on the very first moment, when you entered MBGH hostel registration room, well you that time had Great physique and it needs a re-visit I guess.

In a very-very personal opinion I feel Samrat, Abhilash and you are three guies whom I respected from day one, and I don't really think it needs an explanation, as its a very special and mature league in IWSB in 2008/10 batch.

Another thing is Asad have a great Voice, one of the best at IWSB, specially hearing your voice in that skit of Lagaan was one of the highlight of it.

    Memories about Asad are:-

1). First time when we went to Delhi to get your bike and then came a heavy rain outburst and was a pleasure driving in the rain on express way, remember that bus stop we waited for a while on?

2). While working on "Who say's Elephant can't Dance", that last night preparation, although things went seamlessly well in the end but we battered the timing in the report preparation next week. But still the way you explained things that night is something which comes gradually with experience and that's a very special thing about you.

3). Your unusually regular participation in leadership in leadership class discussions, thats very un-Asad for classroom, but a good memory I guess.

4). I still remember your wicket keeping in IWPL and that inning where you scored high, well thats very fresh for me, loved the inning from you, and your enthusiasm afterwards.

5). Seeing you aggressive for the first time on day before 2009 Holi evening, well Flat no. 703 of MBGH must not have forgotten that sound of the door smashing.

6). Lately working with you on Anil Karnani's artical was again fun and a learning experience, Must say we kept on improving the timings of finishing the work every time ;-)

Bro I know for sure that you will choose a very self satisfying path to go forward, and my all the best wishes for journey ahead. I would request you to regain a great shape as thats what looks great on you, and thats a strong request by the way...!!!

Finally Keep smiling your heart out as you always do ;-) and I surely know we will be in touch always on every turn thing called life projects in front.

    Take care,

    Endy

  16. Asad Bhai, As-Salam AleyKum !
I met Asad after returning from the Bhimtal outbound trip. I thought I am the only person (buddha) after Surya who had worked for more than 4 years before joining IWSB. But after meeting Asad I got a sign of relief as Asad was more experienced than me. Ha.. Ha…main sabse Buddha nahi tha!
The next day I interacted with you when the guys were playing cricket and I still remember your dialogue...boy will remain a boy and ‘a man will always be a man’. (Yaad hai kuch).
You are the man who gave me a title of SILLY and this title was originated from the time we started playing TT @ MBGH, my favourite game. I love to call you silly rather than Asad. Remember when you got your trophy from ID for securing the 1st position in 1st year..i greeted you as “ye to silly to gaya” and you reciprocated as “Bada wala Silly”.
You are one of the most disciplines people I ever met, with the sharpest brain around. I really love and respect you because you are very firm on your principles and also because you are a god fearing person. In this era of ‘Kalyug’ people like you are very rare, who still remembers the almighty, please continue this. Because I think this is the only reason which keeps you calm, compose and gives peace of mind.
Yaar! Asad naam adhura hai. Naam to hota hai something something ..Akbare Azam ..something something…( remember Chokar sir class when you mentioned your full name give by your Grand father)ush naam me dum hai (and choker sir said: ye hua na naam!). But I can say that you are the AKBAR of our batch, great person and a good leader, as you was the soul leader behind our memorable meeting with the management. That was very fruitful.
Bhai! you have a great potential but I want you to be a bit more serious about life. You go lethargic and sometimes carries ‘chalta hai’ attitude. Aise hamesha nahi chalta hai yaar…I know the day when you will make your mind to do something..No one will be in a position to compete you. (I am not sillying!)
Remember...We will be in touch forever to cherish the silly moments and to make many more silly moments in future. (Bada wala not choota sillys)
Wishing you the best… ever achieved by anyone.
    Love and regards,
    Krishna Kant

  17. I still remember the day when I came to Devarshi's room and saw you sitting there. It was a formal interaction and we introduces ouselves. But since then it's a long journey which gave me some of the best moments of my life. At MBGH the word "fun" had become the synonym for our flat-704. I still remember the night when we decided not to pick Bhaskar from Delhi. He was literally crying on the phone and saying that he will be killed if you guys don't come to pick me up. But still we were in masti mood and enjoying this horrible position of Bhaskar. Then Poli whose soul was always in search of a bike ride insisted us to pick Bhaskar. When we reached there he was with his new g/f and sharing his life experiences with her. During my course at IWSB I always look upto you for every problem that I faced. But then something happened so silently that everything changed and the worst part is that I still don't know why it happenned? But that's life it gives you many ups and downs. Wishing you all the best and thank you for being there as an elder brother to me;-)

  19. Hi Asad,
Chomu as we like to fondly refer to you amongst ourselves, I don't know why I haven't ever dared to call you that on your face... hmmmm I should one of these days. Anyways, I am going to miss the gossip sessions with you, the last efforts of collective counselling before an exam in the kitchen, and the visits to fill up. I hope I get to see more of you in the future. Don't do the vanishing act my friend and always keep in
touch. I am going to miss seeing you everyday. Your smile is infectious. you should infect more people more often. :):):)
And wear something other than a kurta pajama for a change. And formals to work :):) without the sleeves rolled up.

    Love
    Vibha

  20. “In life we chase extraordinary things. But the little things in life are quite extraordinary”, if someone lives by this it is Asad. In one fine morning when we landed in Allahabad for Devasrshi weeding, we were scurrying our minds to find answers to those silly questions: where you see yourself after five years? What is your dream job? Asad summarily turned down and told me that “I have no such things in mind. My dreams are simple: to take ammi to the holy shrines”. This is something which stayed on with me. Asad, I will always relish those moments of kebab and “dil fry”, do knock me when you are around Nizamuddin, I will be there. samrat
