Debashish Patra

17 comments:

  1. I call him Google, though he has much more info than Google has. No one will ever forget Debashis, Sagar and the wooden stool. He has come a long long way from there. One of the sharpest mind, who can replace the knowledge resource center of our college, his ability to learn and remember things is just mind blowing.

I'll always remember how he told Mirza Sir in which batch was Sanjeev Bhikchandani, who was Mirza's student at IIM. Mirza Sir said, i have taught this guy in IIM in, i think 1989 batch. Patra said, not Sir, 1988, Mirza said, i think it is 1989, Patra insisted, 1988 Sir. Mirza Sir said Yes, i think 1988. He has always stunned professors by remembering names of all the Corporate big shots, their Wives, whereabouts of their CHildren, the dogs and the size of their underwears.

I sincerely hope to see u in your Dream Consultancy as the same Debashis we've always known. Smart and Witty.

    All the Best Bro!

  2. Debasish - Even the KRC of our college becomes incompetent in front of him..Vipash has put his sharp memory skills in the best possible way..

I know he has hated me for shouting at him a numerous number of times..I remember we've had the worst of times during our interns..But thats all history now..I've always seen this guy as a good friend..Oflate we've started having mature conversations about career and life..i still remember how Abhilash and me used to make fun of your break up with ur ex-gf..

Just a small advice bro..never take life seriously..we all are aboard the same ship..destiny will take us to where we deserve to be..World is small and we will definitely meet..Do catch me anytime and i will be there to help you out..And yes, i will go to any extend to get you placed in a Consultancy firm..Be rest assured about that..:)

  6. Do not take life so seriously, start relying a lot more on LOGIC and a little less on INFORMATION and learn to laugh out things. After all, you get only one shot at life.

You do not have to heed to what I say but I seriously believe that you are in need of this potion.

    All the Best!

  8. If there is one guy in our batch who under-estimates himself the most, its gotta be Debashis.

Memory 1: Raj's first lecture on Economics - only 8 minutes had passed before Raj posed a question before the class. Only one hand went up. And that was the hand of 'Econemesis' ;) The owner of that hand destroyed ANY chance that ANY other student could have in attempting to answer ANYthing in ANY of the coming Economics classes! (To our horror, we learnt that Economics was not the only class where this lethal weapon unleashed itself ;)

Memory 2: online interaction in the first week after coming back from Outbound - i remember Debashis firing email quizzes in every direction. Looking at those emails I realised this guy shares something that excites me as well. I remember meeting him in his room (his room was across the hall on the same floor in MBGH) and talkin bout the quizzer in him, and it wasn't much time before i realise that this guy had a mind like a steel-trap!

Memory 3: After the end of all interesting lectures - Debashis was the only person in class who would share my excitement of a new idea/theory taught in class and we would dicsuss the same for quite some time after the class had dispersed.

Memory 4: August 06, 2008 - Debashis had locked himself in his room in MBGH, troubled by something trivial (i say trivial because one is not fully aware of the emotional & communal support that somebody has until the hour of need; & people generally have an incorrect estimate about this one). This was the first time i learnt about all the hardships that this guy had endured.

Memory 5: Confluence 2008 (:D) this was one helluva trip! By this time, he was part of my in-group, and i did not think twice before pulling his leg. But on this trip (he calls it his "pilgrimage") i was the laughing spectator as Sourabh dutifully took on a job that he does best. Making Debashis' life miserable. And I'm absolutely certain that this trip wouldn't have been half as fun if Debashis wouldn't have been there.

    Memory 6: aaaaaaaaa.... achcha sun....

If there was one thing that i would tell this guy, it'll be "Believe in youself bro. You're better than you think you are" ;)

  9. my second brother at IWSB....my informal interactions with u started in the third term when I had to work with u in the finance project...I knew that if someone speaks to u politely u'll give your life for that person n hence I was able to work with u very comfortably...how can I forget our TATA Crucible...after that there was no looking back....
Bro just wanted to tell u a few things....try to take jokes at the face value....remain Happy....no matter what...U have changed a lot in these past two years and I hope that your journey of self realisation continues and u open to people around u....have trust in your abilities....
N yes stay in touch......or else I'll kill you...

  10. i had a series of conceptions about this guy - i hated when i had to accompany you in my rural trip ,my confession ..but then i realised looks can be deceptive - honestly now i value your frenship and can rate you pretty high when it comes to our wordly gossips..carry this flavour in your life always ..:)

  11. hmmmmmm....i think i was one of his close fried in the 1st part of 1st yr.....I use to repair ur laptop everyday..no. of times....u shared many things abt ur past..will never forgot one of the gr8t "Debashis night" @MBGH...whn u attacked bidi with door lock.....tht day I was the 1st guy to realize it & inform others.....bt smehw after the gr8t Sagar incident u misunderstood me....later also we fought a lot in several issues....bt some of our common interests about other colleges keep our friendsip on always...try to keep u mind cool always....if google stop's wrking smetme we(IWSBians) can proudly say we hve better alternative with us....kabhi kuch galat bola to maf kar dena aur kabhi khabome bhi mereko bhulne ki koushis mat karna...

  12. Well Debashish is someone I hardly understand whom, actually we both belong to a completely opposite sphere and that may be one of the reason.
He is the most efficient information downloading software in IWSB batch of 2008/10 and I am amazed at his ability to process this information, he leaves you speechless and spellbound on that part.

I have few memories of Debashish :-

1). Well first time we met in Gaurav Tiwari's room, floor fifth room number 501 "c",and it was evening must be around 7:30 I believe, You came late but already was famous for your reaction pron comments on IWSB orkut community if you can recall.

2). Going for dinner at Raj's place, two times in all, and having South Indian food was absolutely great experience.

3). The day you took economics lecture.... well you cant forget that bro, and also the day you scored a bit low in economics test.

4). Our arguments in supply chain class.

Well these are just a few, I also endorse Asad's point if he allows me, Information backed by logic can be exceptional combo.

Varun also seems to have hit the right spot, you are way better then what you think you are, so underestimating yourself will only delay your voyage towards path-breaking success which seems just a formality in your case, You are bound to score big bro.

Lastly as Ravi said that day "thoda smile kar dey yaar tu...!!!" yeah keep smiling bro and have an exceptional consultancy career ahead.

    Take care

    Endy.

  13. D.PAT as we call him, is the ‘boy next door’ to me in our very own RCI hostel.. he loves those who love him. But he don’t know what to do, to have fun. Though I have taught him about it.. ;) He is sensitive, has an active mind, has Strong mentality, he Loves attention & is Diplomatic. Also, he is friendly and solves people's problems.
I would say that he is "A friend of friend". Sometimes he give me really nice advices. One of his dream is to have chai-pakode in his home balcony aftr comin back from his job.. He wants to just njoy weather & wants somebody ;) else to serve him.. PS: @Patra, Don't be disheartened if you don't find mention about your looks ;) rest others have mentioned about that.. Wish God that you scale greater heights in your life!!

  15. Dear Mr.Encyclopedia. I sometimes wonder how you retain so much of information (from Sabitha- Bhabhi to anything to everything), in the dendrites and axons of extra sharp neurons of your brain. No doubt you are the living Wikipedia for me.

When we met for the first time, I thought there is something wrong with you because you were the only person who behaved very differently in our first meeting. I thought you are suffering from Xenophobia but I was wrong. “Tu to genius nikla aur saitan bhi :-)”.

I like you straight forward and frank nature.

    Some unforgettable moments:
 Wo Sagar ka sar phodna, wo bhi chair se!
 Our trip to Delhi with prabhakar, jitu, kartik, bhaskar. Those flying snaps & with colourful balls.
 Our first marketing assignment “Metro”. (Thanks to our friend Gaurav who just spoke for 1 hour alone). Probably the longest presentation @IWSB.
 Frequent ‘ Spic-Macay’ meeting, when we and Bhaskar were going almost every Saturday, and your naughty acts while asking a pen…….(yaad aya) and then searching those beautiful girls @ orkut.
 Our endless arguments in group activities. But the best part was “Easy-Cab”… you know for what! Cheers!
 Main, tu aur Bhaskar ke room me wo parties
There is lots to share… abhi itna hi yaad aa raha hai !

One sincere advice: Take very good care of yourself and maintain a good health.

Be in touch forever, your name will be the first in my caller’s list if ever I take part in competitions like “Kaun Banega Crorepati”.

All the best for your future.

    With Luck & Love
    Krishna Kant

  17. My Al Neri. The guy who gave me the name Don Saladi. Dude wait a minute, there's some clarification that needs to be done. If you're my Al Neri, you're supposed to be my protector and my chief assassin whereas I have seen you doing none of those here. Atleast you could have killed Sagar for me. The only thing that I can recall is me comforting you whenever you got into trouble here. Well thats some role reversal. However, you would still be my capo and I would always be there whenever you need me.
I remember the days spent at Q-Equip and I hope you will forgive me for whatever happened between us and I hope you would still be my trusted lieutenant.
Debashis I really admire you for your knowledge that you have built up over the years and believe me when we meet and talk to new people thats all that is needed to impress them. Think about it.
    Will always be in touch,
    Abhilash AKA Don Saladi.
